The Book Mammy tell me about Haiti was introduced at the First Savannah Book Festival in Savannah Georgia, it is endorsed by the Haitian American Historical Society that unveiled a monument to honor the fallen soldiers from St. Domingues "Les Chasseurs Volontaires de St. Domingues" in 1779. The book is written by a Haitian teacher Mrs. Jeanine Agnant and illustrated by Mrs. Alexandra Barbot shown here with  visitors at the fair and her daughter holding the book. Proceeds of the book benefit the Haitian American Historical Society.

Jeanine Agnant is a former teacher, born and raised in Haiti. She moved to the United States in the 1950’s and lived in Chicago and New York, with her husband who was a cardiologist. She studied cosmetology at C.J. Walker’s school in Chicago and moved back to Haiti with her husband. She writes the book to share her memories about Haiti, the land, the culture with her grand-daughter, Josephine and to connect the generations.
The book answers Josephine’s questions. She wants to know how her mother grew up in Haiti. The book is also a source of information for children curious about Haiti.
