Book review of " Mommy tell me about Haiti"
Since its introduction to the public February 2ND 2008 the book "Mommy tell me about Haiti" as been getting some very positive attention. It has been featured in the front page of the local news of "Savannah Morning News" at the 1st Savannah Book Festival in Georgia. In Miami, Radio host Mrs. Desgraffe from WLRN "Radio l'ecole'" gave it two thumbs up impressed with the content that is educative for both Young and old. The beauty of the impressionist inspired illustrations give it more the feel of an art book then an usual children book and the presentation: a hard cover printed with Educa Vision, is very tasteful. Radio show host Guylene Berry from Radio Mega's "Coze Fanm" commented on the importance of having such a book and bought it for her children, she advised other parents to do so. Book store owner Jean Mapou in his radio show of July 20TH 2008 commented on the positive message of the book and added to it the fact that it sold very well in his store. His opinion in this community matters. Reverend Bazin a well know Christian leader in the community commented on the book saying : everybody should have this book at home .The book is available in English and very soon in French and Creole. It is with great pleasure that we are adding the latest book comment from internationally acclaimed author Edwidge Danticat in an email to co author and illustrator Alexandra Barbot
Thank you Alexandra.
I wanted to offer the following words for the book.
"A beautiful and valuable book. It will help not only Haitian and Haitian-American children better understand their history and culture, but will also enlighten children from other cultures about ours. A must read also for parents who are lucky enough to be asked the question of the title. I highly recommend that you read and share this book with friends and family."
